Medway Roller Dance and Social Club
Medway Roller Dance and Social Club is the first roller dance club in the country to achieve the Clubmark accreditation.
The club was established in 1949, and continues to flourish with members of all ages.
Its public session at Woodlands Primary School Sports Centre is aimed at all newcommers to skating and includes some general skating sessions, games with prizes, roller dances and some optional coaching of basic roller skating skills.
Lessons in roller dance figure and free skating are available for beginners, intermediate ability and advanced skaters.
Club members have opportunities to take part in competitions held within the club as well as national and if selected international competitions.
The club is well known for its display skating and has performed in local public events and also on television.
Training sessions are as follows:
Saturday 12pm-2pm - for competition skaters held at Rainham School for Girls.
Saturday 3.30pm-5pm - club sessions held at Woodlands Primary.
Saturday 2pm-2.30pm - Figure lesson held at Woodlands Primary.
Saturday 2.30pm-3.30pm - Novice and beginner lesson held at Woodlands Primary.
Saturday 3.30pm-5pm - Club session held at Woodlands Primary.
Monday 8pm-9.30pm - Prelim and above skaters held at Greenacre School.
Tuesday 7pm-8.30pm - Elementry and over dance as required held at Greenacre School.
Prices: Club session for non-members £4.
Club session for club members £3.
Lesson £4 per hour.
Club membership:
- Junior skaters (under 16 years) £10.
- Senior skaters (16 years plus) £17.50.
- Family membership £30.
- Non skating membership £5
The club has a collection of skates available for loan.
